Hardware developer Blue Chip Technology have announced the general release of their 'CM1 Board', a small-footprint plug-in module that enables their acclaimed RE2 single board computer to provide communications and tracking
services.

The Blue Chip CM1 module can provide an embedded system with GSM/GPRS, Ethernet, GPS and a 3-axis accelerometer. The CM1 module is a plug-in board that further enhances the RE2’s onboard ARM A8 Cortex Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), Bluetooth and 10/100Mbit Ethernet capabilities.

Mantracourt have announced the release of their Wireless Active Repeater, a module that allows wireless instrumentation transmission to span around obstacles such as buildings or walls as well as increasing range.

The repeater acts as a transparent link between Mantracourt’s T24 Acquisition modules and a base station or a handheld display. The Active Repeater was originally developed to achieve greater coverage for wireless load cell technology in the construction sector.

Embedded systems design consultancy, Pebble Bay, has announced that it has been working with Vickers Electronics in the development of a new microprocessor-based control unit for industrial heating systems. Based on an ARM Cortex™-M3 processor the new design is far more powerful than the previous solution, and has the capacity for significant additional capabilities.

Vickers Electronics designs and installs energy management systems that seek to reduce energy wastage by controlling all aspects of time and temperature. Vickers engaged Pebble Bay to undertake a complete re-design of the hardware and a software port to provide the new control unit on which their existing application software would run.
